Many techniques were used to ensure the authentic look of this commissioned project. We used real slate and red brick which were added individually as well as real leadwork for the chimney stack. The interior boasts period correct wallpaper, fireplaces and lighting. The privy was handmade and is available to order from our online shop. Grout was used to build up the window surrounds and the paving is real stone.
Howard says;
“we were very excited to take on this commission. Both Kieran and I had been wanting to complete a Wartime project for some time. After speaking with our client about dreams and ideas for the house, we made a list of features that were in mind. These included specific details for the era such as tape on the windows, a cupboard under the stairs, a privy in the courtyard and interior decoration to fit the period. We had great fun discussing the project with our customer and bouncing ideas off each other. One brilliant idea they suggested was to include a chalked hopscotch onto the pavement area. We later surprised our customer by adding a smoking chimney to the build and they were delighted with this authentic touch.”
